Spreading Joy Through Strength
Studies have shown that lifting weights increases one's mental satisfaction. Not only is it good for your body, but it can greatly increase your mood. Weightlifting boosts your confidences, and helps you face your fears by teaching you that fear is not in control. When you will yourself to drop down into a squat, sweat dripping in your eyes, quads and thighs burning, more than your body-weight hanging on to the barbell, and you mentally push yourself to get back to top position, that is the human body controlling fear.
At Uplift, we reach out to at-risk children and teenagers who may not have an example to follow and invite them to join the world of strength-training.
